This is divided into two
separate competitions (both Regional).
The Drinkwater Trophy -
Teams from each Branch of the West Midlands
Region compete over five events:-
Freestyle Obstacle Relay
Personal Skills Relay
Manikin Rescue Relay
Torpedo Buoy Rescue Relay
Line Throw Relay
Age (as at 31st December in
the year of competition)
12yrs & over - Branch
Teams of Six (all male and all female)
Regional SERC -
This is an Aquatic Initiative
Test set using the whole pool. The winning
Team from this competition will go on to represent
the West Midlands in the SERC at the Final of the
National Lifesaving Championships.

This competition is organised
by Lifesavers, and is usually held at Ponds Forge
in Sheffield over two days. There are
various events (some Individual, some Team):-

Manikin Carry - 50m
Rescue Medley - 100m
Manikin Carry with Fins - 100m
Manikin Tow with Fins - 100m
Super Lifesaver - 200m |
Line Throw - 10m & 12m

Obstacle Relay - 4 x 50m

This is a fun event and an
ideal taster for those who have never competed
before. There are

Novice 13yrs & under (team of six, any sex)
Junior 16yrs & under (team of six, with at least

Under 13yrs, Boys and Girls 13 - 16yrs. All entries
are Individual. |

National Lifesaving Championships -
Rules (2009)
Lifesavers (RLSS UK) Memership required to enter |

This competition is held over
three dates, and consists of four events:-
Aquatic Initiative Test
Life Support Initiative Test
Line Throw
Swim & Tow
Branch Heats (usually
in May) where members from the Branch compete,
with the top three places in each age group
qualifying to represent Warwickshire in the....
Regional Heats (usually
held in Sept) Warwickshire compete against two
other Branches from the Region, with the 1st place
in each age group qualifying to represent the West
Midlands in the National Final (additional
qualifying places are sometimes available,
dependant on results from the previous year).
National Final (usually
held in November) the West Midlands compete
against other Regions from the UK, including
Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This is where
your dream of becoming a National Champion could
come true!

comprising of nine events, with event nine being a
knockout Water Polo tournament with a separate
trophy (entry to the water polo is optional).
