On this page you will find a brief description of all the competitions listed on the Diary, along with a full set of the most up-to-date rules (click the links below to view).

 
 

Drinkwater Trophy and Regional SERC  -  Rules  Lifesavers (RLSS UK) Memership required to enter

This is divided into two separate competitions (both Regional).

The Drinkwater Trophy - Teams from each Branch of the West Midlands Region compete over five events:-

 

        Freestyle Obstacle Relay

        Personal Skills Relay

        Manikin Rescue Relay

        Torpedo Buoy Rescue Relay

        Line Throw Relay

 

Age (as at 31st December in the year of competition)

        12yrs & over - Branch Teams of Six (all male and all female)

 

Regional SERC - This is an Aquatic Initiative Test set using the whole pool.  The winning Team from this competition will go on to represent the West Midlands in the SERC at the Final of the National Lifesaving Championships.

 

Age (as above) - Branch Teams of Four (two male & two female)

 
 
National Speed Championships  -  Rules(2009)  Lifesavers (RLSS UK) Memership required to enter

This competition is organised by Lifesavers, and is usually held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield over two days.  There are various events (some Individual, some Team):-

 

        Obstacle Swim - 100m & 200m                        

        Manikin Carry - 50m                                       

        Rescue Medley - 100m                                   

        Manikin Carry with Fins - 100m                        

        Manikin Tow with Fins - 100m                         

        Super Lifesaver - 200m

Line Throw - 10m & 12m

Manikin Relay - 4 x 25m

Obstacle Relay - 4 x 50m

Medley Relay - 4 x 50m

Line Throw Relay - 4 x 12m

 

Age groups (as at 31st December in the year of competition)

        12-14yrs;  15-17yrs;  Open (15 +);  Masters (30-39;  40-49;  50 +)

 
 
Junior & Novice Splash Night  -  Rules (2008)

This is a fun event and an ideal taster for those who have never competed before.  There are seven events:-

 

        Individual Skills Relay

        Clothing Relay

        Line Throw Relay

        Body Board Relay

        Towing Relay

        Obstacle Relay

        Boat Race

 

Age groups (as at date of competition)

        Novice 13yrs & under (team of six, any sex)

        Junior 16yrs & under (team of six, with at least two females)

 
 
Youth Championships  -  Rules (2008)

Based on the National Lifesaving Championships, there are four events.

 

        Aquatic Initiative Test

        Life Support Initiative Test

        Line Throw

        Swim & Tow

 

Age groups (as at 31st December in year of competition)

        Boys and Girls Under 13yrs, Boys and Girls 13 - 16yrs.  All entries are Individual.

 
 
National Lifesaving Championships  -  Rules (2009)  Lifesavers (RLSS UK) Memership required to enter

This competition is held over three dates, and consists of four events:-

 

        Aquatic Initiative Test

        Life Support Initiative Test

        Line Throw

        Swim & Tow

 

Branch Heats (usually in May) where members from the Branch compete, with the top three places in each age group qualifying to represent Warwickshire in the....

Regional Heats (usually held in Sept) Warwickshire compete against two other Branches from the Region, with the 1st place in each age group qualifying to represent the West Midlands in the National Final (additional qualifying places are sometimes available, dependant on results from the previous year).

National Final (usually held in November) the West Midlands compete against other Regions from the UK, including Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  This is where your dream of becoming a National Champion could come true!

        Junior Boys Pairs 12-14yrs;  Junior Girls Pairs 12-14yrs

        Senior Boys Pairs 14-17yrs;  Senior Girls Pairs 14-17yrs

        Mens & Ladies Individual 16yrs & over

        Mens & Ladies Masters 30-39yrs;  40-49yrs;  50-59yrs;  60 +

 
 
Warwick Challenge Cup  -  Rules

This is our clubs own gala, comprising of nine events, with event nine being a knockout Water Polo tournament with a separate trophy (entry to the water polo is optional).

 

        6 x 25 Individual Skills Relay

        Clothing Relay (Cross Chest Tow)

        Body Board & Torpedo Buoy Rescue Relay

        Line Throw Relay

        Towing Relay

        Manikin Towing Relay

        Reversing Boat Race

        Sprint Rescue Relay

 

Age group (as at date of competition)

        15yrs & over - Team of Six plus one reserve (Min of three female)

        As a club we usually enter a Junior team (under 15yrs)

 
 
Mixed Pairs  -  Rules

For this competition we try to encourage Parents to have a go and enter with their children.  There are four events:-

 

        Aquatic Initiative Test

        Line Throw

        Body Board

        Swim & Tow

 

Age groups (as at date of competition)

        combined age of both competitors - 30yrs & under;  31-40yrs;  41-60yrs;  61 +

 
 
Regional Rookie Gala  -  Rules (2008)

Aimed at Junior members, another fun event and an ideal taster for those who have never competed before.

There are five events:-

 

        Body Board Relay

        Brick Relay

        Manikin Tow Relay

        Torpedo Buoy Rescue Relay

        Line Throw Relay

 

Age group (as at 31st December in year of competition)

        Under 14yrs - Team of Six (any sex)

 
 
Warwick LSC Annual Club Gala  -  Rules    Entry Form (2008)

Open to all members of Warwick LSC. There are four events held over two consecutive club nights:-

 

        Aquatic Initiative Test

        Life Support Test

        Line Throw

        Swim & Tow

 

Age groups for Individual Entries are: 11yrs & under; 14yrs & under; 16yrs & under and Open.

Age groups for Mixed Pairs are: 16yrs & under and Open.

 
 
End of Year Splash Night  -  Rules (2007)

A fun event with 'Themed' Fancy Dress (previous years have been Harry Potter, Xmas No.1's and Superheroes).  There are various relay events using lifesaving skills, with two age groups;

        Juniors - 14yrs & under - Team of four (any sex)

        Seniors - 15yrs & over - Team of four (two male, two female)
